Most prominent during the Spanish era, the Kalesa is a horse-drawn carriage often used by rich and educated middle-class Filipinos known as Ilustrados. Kalesas are rarely used these days except in Spanish-old tourist destinations in the country like Intramuros in Manila and Calle Crisologo in Vigan.
